Yay another food post! If you missed it, you can read my last one for Italian Grill here. This time, Cam and I were so kindly invited along to The Urban Fox here in Edinburgh for a meal, and you know us – we love our food. The Urban Fox is located on Causewayside near The Meadows and it’s a proper cosy little restaurant with amazing comfort food.
To start off with, we went for a sharing platter of crispy halloumi, twice cooked pork belly and fresh chicken goujons. I’m a massive halloumi fan so obviously I was very happy with this starter. The chicken goujons were also very tasty and cooked extremely well. I didn’t try any of the pork belly as it’s not really my thing but Cam assures me that it was succulent, flavourful and some of the best he’s had – pork belly connoisseur over here.
Next up were our mains and I went for the classic fish and chips. For me, fish and chips is proper comfort food and any time I order it at a restaurant I’m never disappointed. This was honestly some of the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time. The fish was delicious and the batter was nice and light so it didn’t fill me up super quickly, and the chips were also light and fluffy so altogether it was great!
Cam chose the roast duck breast as his main and again he was very impressed with it and basically devoured it within five minutes. He’s a big duck fan and he absolutely loved it.
This time we actually had room for dessert so we ordered the sticky toffee pudding and the cheesecake of the day. Being completely honest, I was actually a little disappointed with the cheesecake. I don’t know why but for some reason it tasted a little salty and it put me off it a little so sadly I couldn’t finish it; although the vanilla ice cream that came with it was incredible! Cam said the sticky toffee pudding was nice and sweet and spongy – so overall the desserts weren’t bad!
I really enjoyed our time at The Urban Fox and it’s somewhere that we definitely want to return to and try more of their food. It’s decently priced, a lovely and cosy atmosphere and the customer service was fab – especially our American waiter, he was so lovely and happy the entire time. I’d say if you’re in the area then definitely pay The Urban Fox a visit because I’m still dreaming about that crispy halloumi.
*Our visit to The Urban Fox was gifted however this has not influenced our review in any way.
