I’ve been on the hunt for a good pair of black, skinny dungarees for what feels like YEARS. Especially now that summer is technically over and we’re getting into the colder time of year, a pair of dungarees feels like an essential. I resurfaced a blue denim dungaree dress from the depths of my wardrobe in an attempt to curb my cravings but it just wasn’t enough. I needed MORE.
During my hunt, I’ve seen countless pairs but they’ve always been sold out (boo) or they just don’t fit (double boo). I’m proportioned like a pear: not a lot happening on top, bigger on the bottom – so stretchy denim was an absolute must. I’m also only just 5ft tall, meaning that regular ladies’ sized dungarees were probably out of the question. So I turned to kids clothing.
Yes I’m serious.
I feel very lucky that I’m short enough and still small(ish) enough to fit into the teens section in most shops. It’s a life hack really, clothes are much cheaper and sometimes they actually fit better. New Look is always a good one because their 915 Collection always has clothes that are actually trendy and keeping up with whatever the latest fashion craze is. This, guys and gals, is how I finally acquired the perfect pair of dungarees.
I. Am. Obsessed. They’re still a little long on my short stumpy legs, but rolling up the cuffs like I do with literally all my jeans works perfectly well. Honestly, I want to wear them all the time. They’re so comfy and and they just go with so many things. Right now I’m loving pairing them with either just a plain tshirt or a good old striped tshirt, and when the colder weather finally arrives I can’t wait to stick a cosy jumper underneath with some boots. I can see myself wearing these A LOT in the near future. Soz.
What are your thoughts? Are you a fan of the dungarees? Or do you think I look like a toddler? Let me know!
