Monthly Favourites: April Edition

Monthly Favourites: April Edition

I wasn’t planning on being a ‘monthly favourites’ type of blogger, but I’ve decided that if I have certain things that I’ve been loving during a particular month then I’ll just share them with you guys. They might not necessarily be beauty related, it just so happens that all of my April favourites are! Anyway, here are a few products that I’ve been living for throughout this last month.

1. RevolutionPro – 4K Highlighter Palette in Rose Gold

How gorgeous are these highlighters? I’m honestly obsessed with them. I bought this palette a few weeks ago along with my Revolution Celestial Trends palette (which you can read my review of here) and I’ve been wearing them every single day, even without a full face of makeup. They are so pigmented, almost foil-like as you can see from the swatches above, and they last all day.

My personal favourite is the top right rose-goldy shade, it just gives my skin such a nice healthy-looking glow and I’m just obsessed with it! The two bottom shades are probably too dark for my fair skin, but I’d definitely recommend using them as eyeshadows instead – they work just as well. The only thing I will say is that they are quite glittery and have a lot of fall-out in the pan, but aside from that I honestly can’t fault them.

You can buy it from Superdrug or Revolution’s own website for only £8 (bargain!)

2. The Body Shop Drops of Youth: Youth Concentrate Serum

I first came across this while watching one of sophdoesnails’ YouTube videos where she used it as a primer. I never really considered buying it until my skin had a mini freakout a few weeks ago and I was desperate for something to help it. Luckily, The Body Shop were actually visiting my work during this time and they actually had this in stock so I bought it and used it right away – while sitting at my desk.

I honestly think this saved my skin from whatever trouble it was having. It’s so hydrating and makes your skin feel so plump and healthy and glowy. My skin looks so much more radiant now and it’s not broken out since I started using it. In terms of using it as a primer, I use around 2-3 drops and pat it into my skin before putting my makeup on in the morning. As it contains glycerin, it makes your skin kind of tacky and sticky which is perfect for applying foundation to. I’ve noticed a huge difference in the lasting power of my makeup when I use this vs when I don’t use it. All in all it’s just a great product for skincare or makeup priming and I highly suggest trying it out if your skin needs a little boost.

You can buy it from The Body Shop’s website for £26.

3. Primark’s My Perfect Colour Velvet Finish Foundation

So I wasn’t expecting much to come from buying this foundation, I mean, Primark’s known for being cheap and cheerful but I didn’t have high hopes for their makeup. Well shame on me because this foundation is probably the best foundation I’ve ever used. This is Primark’s ‘My Perfect Colour’ velvet finish foundation and it has quickly become my holy grail foundation.

I have very dry/combination skin so finding a good foundation can be hard. I’ve tried so many high end and drugstore formulas that appear to work at first, but come mid-morning it’s either sliding off my face or my skin looks like the desert. This foundation though is absolutely perfect, for me it lasts all day, doesn’t separate, slide or cake and it sits nicely on my skin during the day, even in a roasting hot office!

Sadly each time I’ve returned to buy another bottle it’s not been in stock in any of the stores I’ve checked, so I’m absolutely gutted. I’m trying to remain hopeful that it will be restocked but until then I’m on the hunt for another similar foundation. Sob.

You can buy this from Primark (if they have it in stock!) for £6.

4. Benefit Bad Gal BANG! Mascara

Unless you’ve been living under a rock recently, you’ll know that Benefit recently launched their new mascara Bad Gal BANG! I’d heard a lot of mixed reviews on this, some people loved it while others were so disappointed with it, so I decided to try it out myself.

I bought the mini version from Boots just in case I didn’t like it so I wasn’t wasting loads of money, but I wish I had bought the full size because I actually really love this mascara. It’s so lengthening and volumizing and lasts all day. It claims to last up to 36 hours and while I haven’t tested that out yet, I have napped in it and it hasn’t budged at all! I always find Benefit’s mascaras to be outstanding and this one is no different. It has replaced my Too Faced Better Than Sex and my L’Oreal Miss Baby Roll mascaras for the moment, though I still love them, and I plan on purchasing the full sized version once my mini runs out.

Buy it from Boots here (full sized £21.50) or here (mini £10.50)

5. Nivea Daily Essentials – Sensitive Cleansing Milk

I came across this product by chance when I was browsing the skincare section in Boots the other week. They were offering a good old ‘3 for 2’ deal on Nivea’s daily essentials line of products, so I picked up this cleansing milk along with two other items and I’m fairly certain it came to less than £10!

Although I love the other two products I bought, this one in particular has become a big favourite of mine. I use it at night after I’ve taken my makeup off and I just apply a coin sized amount to my face, rub it in and then remove any excess with a cotton pad. This stuff is honestly so hydrating that I don’t need to apply an actual moisturiser afterwards, and that’s coming from someone with very dry skin. My skin doesn’t have that horrible tight feeling after using it, it feels so hydrated and smooth and it feels like that for hours afterwards. I prefer this to any high-end moisturiser I’ve ever used!

You can buy it from Boots for £4.29.

I'd definitely recommend trying the foundation if you can find it! Plus it's dead cheap so even if you don't like it, you're not wasting that much money!
